FAQ

  • How do I choose a wig?

Make sure you schedule enough time to try on as many wigs in as many colors as you wish. Do not be afraid to try on multiple wigs and sometimes even the same wig multiple times. Every one is unique. Some individuals will feel more comfortable with a style similar to their own and still others will want a style or color different from their own. The wig that you choose can be trimmed, styled, and or sized as needed.

  • How should a wig fit?

Your wig should be snug to fit, but not so tight that it leaves marks or is uncomfortable to wear all day long.

  • How do I maintain a wig?

Wash your wig regularly. Do not let your wig come in contact with direct heat (180 or hotter). Do not cook while wearing your wig, use hot curling irons or blow dryer. Do not over brush your wig. Most wigs come with a specific style and do not require a lot of brushing.

  • How often do I wash my wig?

If you wear your wig everyday, wash it once every 3 to 4 weeks or 20 to 25 wearings.

  • How do I wash my wig?

Mix one gallon warm water and 1 to 3 tablespoons wig shampoo. Totally submerge wig. Let soak fifteen minutes. Rinse well in warm water. Then mix one gallon warm water and 1 to 3 tablespoons wig conditioner. Totally submerge wig. Let soak fifteen minutes. Rinse well in warm water. Blot excess water from wig with towel. Do not rub! Shake and hang wig. Let dry naturally, overnight. Make sure wig is thoroughly dry. Shake wig, place on your head or wig stand and brush. If necessary use only plastic electric rollers to style wig.

  • Does my insurance pay for my wig?

Some insurance companies do reimburse for hair/cranial prosthesis. You will need a medical prescription from your doctor and we write the sale receipt the same way. You should always contact you insurance company to see if any other forms are needed.

  • What is the difference between human hair and synthetic wigs?

Human hair wigs can be cut, styled and colored as needed. Human hair wigs need to be styled on a daily basis whereas a synthetic wig’s style remains after every washing and needs very little maintenance. A human hair wig will react negatively to humidity and rain just as your own hair does. A synthetic wig bounces back after a rainstorm and humidity does not affect it at all.

  • Can I style my wig myself?

Any individual can style a synthetic wig as long as you keep within the original look. The more you vary the style the more work the style becomes. Human hair wigs need more maintenance and many times need professional help.

  • Will my wig melt in the sun?

No, your wig will not melt from the sun. Getting to close to an oven, dishwasher, boiling pot, curling iron and or hair dryer can and will melt your synthetic wig. Human hair wigs will not melt from extreme heat, but can become frizzy and damaged from extreme heat and over processing. Do not leave your wig in a hot car or trunk for a long period of time.

  • What is a monofilament wig?

A monofilament wig has a transparent lace top with the hair hand tied into the cap. When held against skin it takes the natural color of the scalp.

  • Do I need to wear a wig cap under my wig?

If you have long hair it may be easier to use a wig cap, but it can make a wig feel tight and or hot. If you have little to no hair, wig caps are not necessary.
